Confuzzled + Nursery [29 May 2012|12:34pm]
So Confuzzled has been and sadly gone, for myself the highlights of the convention were Kenshi and Leinir's civil partnership which I had the huge honour of witnessing and then the nursery on Sunday evening.

For me the rest of the con was ... yeah but that's my own fault.

My roomy this year was the totally awesome SeanC ( http://www.furaffinity.net/user/seanc ) with his amazingly adorable Peaches Goat suit he was super cool and I really hope my early mornings didn't disturb him too much.

The hotel, zounds the hotel is so much better then last year, SO MUCH BETTER, I really loved the hotel a lot.

Arriving Thursday got in about 2pm so was able to get into the room right away and SeanC was already there, then it was waiting around hanging out until 6pm when we got hotel exclusivsity.

At about 6 was out in suit for a while and had some fun then registration line which i forgot my ID for so had to go get and join the end of the line :p

Got to bed about 11pm was shattered after drive down.

Friday was a bit of a meh day, was feeling bleeeech and got woke up by a helicopter of all things landing just outside which was pretty cool but not if you are feeling meh.
Got up, pottered about a bit really didn't get much of anything done and went to bed again early.

Saturday was the first super awesome day, Leinir and Kenshi's wedding really almost had me in tears a great many times, they are both so amazing and loving of each other, it's really beautiful to see.

Nipped in to the dealers den to pick up an awesome badge from Taya and suffered deep nnnnngs over the rainbow dash suit, I spent a long time thinking if I could afford it and deciding I could ... but not to and save up for something 40% more awesome.

Sunday was a super awesome day it was cooler so suiting wasn't so much an a issue which is good because it was the fursuit parade.

The parade was about as usual, went down with Peaches and stood around in the main stage (an unventilated room with no water) for 35 minutes, it's not good however we did get this adorable picture ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8071093/ ) with Marbles which was super awesome.
The parade was pretty fun, I stayed with Zee-Zee and Gem and held Gem's tail for a lot of it to keep it from getting dirty and stepped on.

After the parade I went shopping and got a bunch of snacks and awesomes for the nursery party.

The nursery is probably what i'm proudset of managing to pull of, we had about 45 people in and out the doors at various times from those into the Adult Baby side to those that are just into diapers and even several people that were just really curious and intrested to try.

The actual event really came in four sections there was an early AB section where we had people really enjoying cub space time, we doodled on socks, coloured in drawings played with balloons and bubbles and played some kids card games that were really fun.

Then there was a toddler section where we played some more grown up games including a newly created (and very fun) version of duck, duck goose.

Then there was the cirnklelove section, lots of folks that liked diapers and lots of really in depth discussion about diapers

Finally there was the chillax section where we watched ponies and just about stayed awake.

The total highlight was security having to check for a giant oscar during the party, they were totally professional and i'd like to think nobody in the room even really noticed (even though everyone clearly did) as it was such a relaxed atmosphere so there was no embarassment over being seen in the cub room.

Then Monday I had to pack and drive 8 hours up the road, stopped off in Glasgow and saw Disturbia, Bentley and Kachi and gave Disturbia a lift up to Aberdeen.

The reason i'm annoyed is not because you are asking me to work outside work hours;

It's not because I won't get paid for it,
It's not because you'll never give me the time back,
It's not because you won't even say thanks.

It's because I asked, I begged, I pleaded for help and you told me no.

Why are you surprised when I say the same to you now?

Something to do [15 Mar 2012|07:16am]
I'm going to try make this happen, it's going to be a picture of a woman in a shawl her face slightly bruised and crying.

The top of the poster reads, "A year ago today the first of 6,000(est) voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced."

Then when you look closer the tear is actually a collage of about 6,000 copies of the crying woman.

How many digits of pi have you memorized?

So it's about 3, right?

Nah 3.14 does for most circles I ever need to work with, more accuracy then that is mostly showing off.

So last night rathern then being sent of to Montana by myself in Cthulhu (something that sounded ... onimous) LGS and myself were Partially controlled player characters in a Savage worlds game.

As hired thugs apparently we were far too good killing two of the party members and killing the NPC target they were try to protect.

If you will indulge, what is the difference between these four pieces of writing;

Extract i

He could smell her scent, it was a female for sure and with those silly things that those not of the forest placed on top of fur and skin to keep warm but she was not a human, he could smell her scent that of a feline.
"I shall go and scare her, then all of the town will know of the wolf and be scared." Loupy whispered up to Owl.

Extract ii

The animated buglers around the main clock decorated with festive tinsel and blinking, flashing christmas lights hummed slightly springing into life to mark the hour as ten small chimes slowly rung out, causing a small burst of applause from a bunch of cubs around the clock as little elfin figure hopped out of a door putting up a sign, "Sandy Fox is in!"

Extract iii

The thing I had learned to fear the most was darkness, not because of the lack of anything to see but because since I was very young; I could see everything there.
I'm not like most pople in the darkness I am able to see all the things that have never been, all the things that should not be and everything in between.
That's why now i'm lying in bed wide awake counting the 2,301 dots that decorate my ceiling waiting and hoping that tonight I will not fall asleep again.

Extract iv

"Don't go to sleep yet Mr Harry..." A quiet voice suddenly broke the blackness, brushing it away as he sat bolt upright in the soft leather sofa of his living room, directly across from him the etheral women handed him a cup of tea.
"Drink! Drink Mr Harry... You'll need it." She said her voice sounding more solid, more focused as she started to explain why all his he could see things other people couldn't.

Which of these four did I write today?

Should we allow price gouging? [14 Feb 2012|12:33pm]
[ mood | distressed ]

So I was just checking travelodge for some room costs, this is the same travelodge currently having a £10/night sale is offering a single room for a mere £440.

Supply and demand only explains this so far, it then becomes plain greed.

Review : January 2012

January is best month.

Let me qualify that with some more words.

January started coming in off a very quiet December 2011, I was alone at New Years and ... yeah that sucked quite a lot but it's cool because after a few days relaxing it was off to work, for three days.

Then it was a short drive down to Glasgow, when I say short it takes about 3 hours but you are rewarded at the end of your trip with the awesomeness that is Kachi, Disturbia and Bentley.

They are all super awesome nice and it's really great to see them but I was only there a very brief time pretty much crash on couch for a shortness of time and then off to London.

Travelling from Glasgow by train instead of Aberdeen is such a better experience, travelling from Aberdeen you always feel pretty worn out by the end of it, it's not so bad from Glasgow.

A quick overnight in the Heathrow Lodge a quaint if somewhat odd hotel just near the airport and then in the morning it was off to America!

The flight was pretty long, I would if possibly not fly with American again, the in-flight entertainment was dire with only Real Steel (a fun movie but i'd seen it twice already) and Dolphin's Tale the watchable movies they had, comparing this to the Continental flight I was on last year it was so much better.

Arriving in Chicago this time the international entry to the US is incredibly poor, it takes at least an hour standing in a very long queue of tired people that have just gotten off a jet to be processed it's really not the best experience.
Then getting to customs they couldn't find my ESTA (https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/) details, fortunately I was able to find them and let them know so it was cool and groovy, i wasn't even slightly unnerved by this in retrospect maybe I should have been?

A quick connecting flight to San Jose was even worse then the international flight as the only in-flight entertainment was ... Real Steel on hard to see monitors at various points in the plane.

Arriving in San Jose I made my way to the other terminal and was awaiting the arrival of Kokuryuu who had come in from Seattle, it wasn't too long a wait and both pretty tired we got on the shuttle bus to the hotel and flopped during the night.

In the morning we had an awesome American style breakfast, it was delcious and nummy and fully of awesomes and a nice way to wake up, especially with someone you wanna be with.

Then it was time to pick up the car rental and I found the website had gone really weeeeeeeeeeird when I booked it and the car was booked for the 22nd of November 2012.
I should have probably checked this out more but I didn't really mind and just arranged a new one there the car we got was an Chevrolet HHR with sooooooooo much space for everything we needed but not actually that great a motor.

It was then a not too long drive up to Pacifica for a stay at http://www.bestwesternlighthouse.com/ which was just so awesomes the view was totally amazing and it was just perfect way to start a holiday with the sun slowly melting into the Pacific.

The next day we had noms at Nicks (http://www.nicksrestaurant.net/ ) and was really surprised by how good it was with some of the most num garlic bread i've had in ages.

We then went met up with Cryn and visited the San Fransisco Cartoon Art Museum (http://cartoonart.org/ ) which was smaller and not as detailed as I was hoping for I think it's one you have to go to monthly to see the changing displays to really appreciate fully.

Then it was off to Fishermans Wharf (http://www.fishermanswharf.org/ ) where much shopping was done it was a really lovely day out and we even had time to visit the Aquarium (http://www.aquariumofthebay.com/ ) which's main feature was a long tunnel section, a REALLLLLY long tunnel section so that was pretty awesome.

We met up with the amazingly nice Miraways and Pepe both of whom are just so nice and really awesomes.

Then it was to San Jose for Further Confusion, I loved the convention hugely, it is such a nice change to have so many people on roughly the same wavelength and to see so many fuzzies, I really enjoy seeing tails and fuzzy ears on people so for me it was great given.

The con itself I only really did two planned things the fursuit parade (which I paraded in but then snuck off before the photo as it was going to take aaaaaaaaaages) and the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic panel where the parasprites I made invaded the crowd awesomely well I was really pleased with that.

I was really lucky during the con, with Koku pretty much our every move was met with awesome people we knew, from the adorable Drabit to the awesome Gore ... wait that's just D to G how about from the Zan-Zan to BeccaBunny, that more of a range for you?

Special props must go out to Zephyr, K'rimi, Tugsie and Koru as well

Seriously however it was really awesome to meet up with people and I can't wait to go back next year.

After FC Koku and myself hung around San Jose and stayed at the not so amazing BEST WESTERN PLUS Lanai Garden Inn & Suites which was a pretty grotty and I'd not recommend.

During the last few days we visited the tech museum which apparently is a LOT better then people recall and we had a super awesome time there including randomly finding another fur.

The flight back I mostly slept so was thankfully not subjected to Real Steel again.

Arriving back home i'd just like to comment on the difference between US customs border control and UK customs border control.

UK control in Heathrow four large planes of people were funneling towards the check point I thought i'd be ages waiting around, there was a queue but it was short and moved really quickly however for me I found my passport has the new enhanced thingy which meant I could just scan my passport look at a camera and ding that was it.

I was really surprised by how incredibly quick it was!

Then it's back to work, it's been very busy here with lots of IT problems our queue of outstanding problems is very long with people messing up the system by mailing about the same problem multiple times.

That and it's always a little busy in January with people coming back.

Just last week was the http://globalgamejam.org/ 2012, this year I met Leinir and we did it in Glasgow after the one in London was nice but stinky with no showers.

And that brings us to now.

So once again January = best month

Writer's Block: Occupied [05 Jan 2012|01:15pm]
[ mood | annoyed ]

Have you participated in Occupy Wall Street? Why or why not?

No, nor do I fully support the occupy movement.

Bits of it are super cool but when you have people saying, "yeah we want to disrupt Wall Street for the day" that's not cool, that's effectively terrorist activity, you are being a dick.

There's also no cohesion behind what the protest is, what are you protesting about?

Things are going badly?

Look back in history, in the 1890's you'd have been sent to the poorhouse and probably died cold and alone.
